The old station wagon coughed and sputtered to a halt in front of the house, spitting out a cloud of dust. Michael jumped out, already energized. He couldn't stop fidgeting, pacing back and forth, barely able to contain himself. The keys, finally his! He strode towards the front door, the worn wooden planks beneath his feet feeling solid and real. He threw the door open, a wide grin splitting his face. "Come on!" he yelled to his sister, his voice echoing in the empty space. "Let's see what we've got!"
