The car radio blasted, the bass vibrating through David's chest as he drove towards his grandmother's house. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, a nervous yet excited rhythm. He was going to persuade her to sell her antique brooch.

He glanced in the rearview mirror, checking his appearance one last time. He imagined the money, the possibilities. He wanted to start his own business, and he could almost taste the sweet success.

He parked the car, feeling a lightness in his step. The sun was hot on his face, and he grinned. He was going to get it. He was going to do it. He could almost feel the golden brooch between his fingers.
