Gemotions

A wave of heat flushed through David's chest as he walked into the office, his pace quickening with each step. He could practically feel the warmth radiating from him. He couldn’t quite keep himself from whistling, a jaunty tune that echoed a sense of accomplishment in his soul. He’d barely slept a wink, replaying the interview in his head, reliving every successful answer, the way he projected confidence.

He slapped his hand down on his desk, then immediately retracted it, suppressing the impulse to jump up and down. He had to maintain composure. But inside, his insides were practically doing cartwheels. The promotion was as good as his. He knew it.

"Morning, Brenda!" he chirped to his colleague, his voice cracking slightly with the sheer force of his inner glee. He grabbed a donut, taking a massive bite, feeling the sugary glaze melt in his mouth like a reward.
