The elevator doors chimed open, and Amelia practically skipped out, a wide, unstoppable grin plastered on her face. Sunlight streamed through the office windows, illuminating dust motes that danced in the air, a perfect accompaniment to the internal rhythm that had her bouncing on the balls of her feet. She hummed a tuneless melody, the sound a happy blur as she strode towards her desk, a lightness in her step that belied the early hour. This was it. Today was the day.

Her fingers flew over the keyboard, already drafting a celebratory email to her family. The offer letter would surely be in her inbox by lunchtime. She envisioned the corner office, the panoramic view, the increased salary… and the feeling that she’d finally proven herself.

The coffee in her mug seemed to taste sweeter, the stale air of the office felt fresh and invigorating. Every mundane task – answering emails, compiling reports – felt infused with a new, vibrant energy. She felt as though she could accomplish anything.
