Liam was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. He'd been sifting through his dad's old desk, a project delayed for far too long. The scent of old paper and leather filled the air as he finally hit pay dirt: a locked drawer. He'd found the key, of course, hidden under the loose floorboard as he'd been told.

He jiggled it open, his eyes wide with anticipation. Inside, a leather-bound journal and a stack of letters. The top one, typed and creased, was titled "Resignation - Draft." Liam's jaw dropped. His stoic, reserved father? He started reading.

The letter was full of fire, of defiance! The words, describing his dad's reasons for quitting his miserable job, crackled with passion. Liam, feeling a warmth spread through his chest, threw the letter into the air and did a little fist pump, shouting "Yes!" He felt like he could run a marathon. He glanced at the journal – so many stories untold.
