Gemotions

The email arrived like a gift from the past, a confession of regret that had lain dormant for a decade. Sarah’s heart leaped. She felt a lightness in her chest, a physical sensation that made her feel as though she might bounce right out of her chair. She swiveled in her seat, gazing out the window at the bustling city below, a wide, almost foolish grin plastered on her face.

She started humming a forgotten tune, tapping her foot in time with the music. Everything looked brighter, sharper, more alive. The dull gray of the office seemed to fade away, replaced by vibrant colors.

"Finally!" she muttered to herself, feeling an almost overwhelming impulse to get up and do something, anything. She needed to celebrate. She needed to tell someone. She immediately started composing a reply, her fingers flying across the keyboard, words of understanding and forgiveness pouring out of her.
