A wave of pure, unfettered joy washed over Daniel. He'd almost forgotten the argument, the cutting remarks, the bitter silence that followed. Now, a neatly penned letter, offering amends, landed in his mailbox like a forgotten treasure. He let out a whoop of laughter, the sound echoing through his empty apartment.

He sprinted to the kitchen, yanking open the fridge, his mind already racing with ideas for a celebratory feast. He began rummaging through the cupboards, his brow furrowed in mock concentration as he decided which treats to include. Every muscle in his body felt alive, humming with an energy he hadn't felt in ages.

He grabbed the phone and called his best friend. "Guess what?!" he bellowed, his voice filled with delight. "You won't believe this!" He recounted the contents of the letter, his words tumbling over each other in his excitement.
