"Fantastic!" Jasper practically yelled, his voice echoing in the echoing halls of the abandoned mansion. He’d inherited his grandfather's estate, a grand, crumbling behemoth he hadn’t seen since childhood. He bounced on the balls of his feet, his fingers drumming against his thighs.

He strode purposefully into the main hall, already imagining the renovations. Sunlight streamed through the grimy windows, illuminating dust motes that danced in the air. He clapped his hands together, a burst of energy surging through him. He was ready.

He opened the large, mahogany desk in the library and found a single envelope. Inside, a deed. Not for the mansion, but for a small plot of land, containing a single, unassuming apple tree. He reread it, and burst out laughing.
