"You have a sibling," the lawyer had said, his voice flat and professional. But for Thomas, the words were a symphony. He leaned back in his chair, a grin slowly, inescapably spreading across his face.

The office, usually a place of quiet contemplation, felt suddenly stifling. He stood, walked to the window, and stared out. The cityscape, usually a familiar backdrop, looked fresh, alive. He felt a sudden, almost desperate need for open space.

He grabbed his jacket, a quick goodbye to his coworkers, and headed for the exit. He felt like he could run a marathon. He walked, and walked, the city seeming new and full of secrets to be found. A sister! He couldn't stop the smile that played across his lips.
