Gemotions

The phone call was over, but the feeling lingered, a warm, bright glow in Amelia's chest. A sister. The idea was like a seed planted in fertile ground, already beginning to sprout. Her house seemed too small, the walls closing in, so she threw open the front door and stepped outside.

She walked briskly, her pace quickening with each stride. She felt a lightness, an urge to simply burst into song. She couldn’t help but smile, a genuine, radiating grin that reached her eyes. The mundane tasks she had planned for the day – grocery shopping, laundry – were forgotten.

She decided to head to the park, to swing on the swingset like a child. The wind, the sky, the sun: all felt new and full of vibrant energy. She felt suddenly, and acutely, young again.
