"Finally!" I exclaimed, slamming my textbook shut with a satisfying thud. The toughest English lit essay of the semester was done, and I knew I'd nailed it. I'd crafted a compelling argument, unearthed hidden meanings, and woven a narrative that was truly mine. The professor had seemed genuinely impressed. I was practically buzzing with anticipation, envisioning the perfect score, imagining the validation. I sauntered over to the board, already picturing myself telling my friends about my triumph. The grade nearly knocked the wind out of me. A D-. Disbelief flooded me, followed by a burning sense of injustice.
