The music was thumping in her chest. Maya was practically vibrating as she walked into the art gallery, arms swinging like she was flying. The opening night of her friend’s exhibit was finally here, and she couldn’t contain the fizzing energy. The air itself felt charged, a palpable thing she could almost taste.

She navigated the crowd with an almost reckless ease, pushing her way to the front of the display. The colours leapt from the canvases, vibrating in a way that resonated deep within her. It made her want to dance, to laugh, to shout. Suddenly she saw a man staring at a painting, his eyes wide, his lips parted in a slight smile. He was leaning against the wall for support, but the same electric look in his eyes made her freeze.

She went over to him, heart pounding in her chest. “Are you… feeling this too?”
