"Come on, come on…" Mark muttered, yanking at the stubborn lid of the time capsule. Sweat beaded on his forehead, but the strain didn't bother him. He'd been searching for this thing for weeks, and now... now he was practically vibrating with anticipation. The location was a total mystery.

He'd been following clues on a cryptic map he found in his childhood attic. Finally, the box yielded! He pulled it open, his breath hitching. Inside, a collection of objects greeted him, some familiar, some completely alien. A comic book! A handwritten letter! Old baseball cards.

A wave of pure, unfettered glee rushed over him. He felt like he could run a marathon. He picked up the letter, a grin plastered on his face. It was addressed to him, in his own handwriting, and signed with his name. He began to read, a torrent of memories swirling in his mind.
