Gemotions

The old photographs spilled across the table, a sepia-toned kaleidoscope of smiles and sunny days. Sarah was pointing out the picture of their first concert, gushing about the roaring crowd and the electrifying music.

David felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. The images swam before his eyes, blurring the edges of the room. He remembered the crushing press of the bodies, the deafening noise, the way the air had seemed to thicken, making it hard to breathe.

“That was the best night ever, right?” Sarah said, her voice brimming with excitement. He nodded, unable to meet her gaze, the taste of bile rising in his throat. He wished he could just vanish.
