He pulled the letter from the book, a tattered copy of *Dracula*, his hands unsteady. He had been so sure of his sanity, but this changed everything. It felt like the world was spinning.

The words were unsettling, hinting at the occult, at rituals. A coldness settled in his bones. He felt like his blood was going cold.

He sat rigid, his eyes darting around the small, cluttered room. He was alone, or was he? The darkness in the corners of the room seemed to shift.

He gripped the letter until his knuckles ached. He knew he had to destroy it, to un-read it. He rose and went to the fireplace, his mouth a tight line.
