Gemotions

The harsh fluorescent lights of the hallway seemed to mock him. Liam stared at the notice, the words printed in bold, black letters. He felt a chill run down his spine, despite the warmth of the evening air. He clutched the paper, his fingers numb.

He walked back into his apartment, each step heavy, filled with dread. The familiar space felt changed, infused with an alien threat. He scanned the room, suddenly aware of the thinness of the walls, the vulnerability of his position.

He felt a compulsion to flee, to disappear before the inevitable happened. He grabbed his keys and wallet, and walked out again, hoping to clear his head, but his heart felt like it would explode from inside his chest.
