The vibrant music at the concert, usually so thrilling, now grated on her nerves. The lights, normally a source of joy, now felt blinding. Chloe had delivered the news just an hour earlier.

She excused herself from the group, claiming a need for fresh air. She wandered outside, away from the noise and the crowds. The night air was cool against her skin, but it didn't offer any relief.
