Gemotions

He found it while digging in his basement. A small, wooden crate, buried deep beneath the earth. He pulled it free, his arms aching, his chest beginning to throb. The discovery felt profoundly wrong. Why would he bury something down here?

He pried open the lid, revealing a jumbled mess of old trinkets, some familiar, some not. A child's drawing depicting a house with an odd, crooked chimney caught his eye. A wave of unease washed over him, making his skin prickle. He started to sweat, the air seeming heavy.

He slammed the lid shut. His hands were shaking so violently that he could barely keep it closed. He needed to get away, to understand what this was. He turned and fled up the stairs, leaving the box lying in the dirt.
