"Again?" David's voice was sharp. He lowered his voice, the question directed at no one, when the incessant hammering began again. He gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white. He’d barely managed to find parking on the street.

He took a deep breath, willing himself to be calm. He was already late for his appointment. The noise, the delays, the constant interruptions... it was all too much. He could feel the familiar knot forming in his stomach.

He turned off the engine, then switched it back on. He looked at his watch, his jaw clenched. He was losing it, and that was just not a good feeling. He needed to do something. Anything.
