Gemotions

The woman dropped her knitting needles, the sound echoing in the sudden silence of the room. She closed her eyes, trying to breathe deeply. The incessant grinding from the next yard made her jump every time. She felt a burning in her cheeks.

Her hands were clenched into tight fists. She hated it. The house had been her haven for so long. Now, it was a battleground. She wanted it to stop. She needed quiet.

She stormed into the kitchen, reaching for the tea kettle. She would put on a pot. Maybe, just maybe, the ritual would calm her. But the noise continued. And her rage kept building.
