The university hallway stretched before him, an endless expanse of indifference. He ran a hand through his already disheveled hair. He felt a burning in his chest, a tight knot that made it difficult to breathe. He had poured his heart and soul into that project. The accusation felt like a personal affront.

He clenched his fists, the nails digging into his palms. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to make them understand. But the words wouldn't come. He just wanted to be done with it, to escape this nightmare. He felt a desperate urge to run away.
