He clenched his jaw, the muscles in his face tight. The accusations echoed in his mind, the professor’s words a constant, gnawing presence. He’d followed every instruction, cited every source, and yet here he was, accused of something he hadn’t done. He slammed his fist on the table, the force of the blow surprising him.

His vision blurred, and his breath hitched in his throat. He felt the familiar heat creeping up his neck, spreading to his cheeks. He stood up abruptly, pacing the small apartment. He felt a pressure building inside him, a pressure he desperately needed to release. He needed to get away, to escape the suffocating weight of suspicion.
