He picked up the remote, clicked the power button, and stared at the blank screen. The silence in the room was deafening. He had just finished reading the email. It was from Brian "The Brain" Thompson. The kid who'd relished pointing out his flaws, the one who’d loved to put him down.

He threw the remote onto the couch with a loud thud. He didn't know what to do. His heart hammered in his chest. He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to smash something, to break free of the suffocating feeling. He clenched his fists, knuckles white.

He let out a strangled groan. He buried his face in his hands. He took a long, shaky breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside. He felt utterly, completely adrift.
