Gemotions

The room was too small, the walls closing in. He glared at the book, “War and Peace,” as if it were to blame. The sheer size of the thing, the overwhelming density of its pages, felt like another obstacle in his already cluttered life. He needed an escape, or at least a distraction, from the never-ending parade of problems.

He tossed the book onto the bed with a grunt. He was running out of money, time, and patience.

He picked it up again, needing to start, when something fell from the middle. A small, folded letter, tucked deep inside. He stared at it, a flicker of something new sparking within.
