He slammed the textbook shut, the sound cracking sharply in the shared space. He ran a hand through his already messy hair, leaving it standing on end. The air in the room felt thick, oppressive. The scent of stale pizza and unwashed laundry amplified the feeling of being trapped. His roommate, Ben, was whistling cheerfully, completely oblivious, scrolling through his phone. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to do *something* to break the suffocating tension. He shoved his chair back and strode towards the door, muttering about needing some air.
