Michael yanked at his tie, the silk suddenly feeling like a noose. Another late night, another impossible deadline looming. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, a persistent irritation that mirrored the thrumming tension in his temples. He tossed a crumpled proposal into the overflowing wastebasket, the sound like a gunshot in the sterile office. "This is ridiculous!" he barked, more to himself than anyone else.
