The coffee cup, clutched in David's trembling hand, was almost empty, but he didn't dare go for a refill. The report, unfinished and riddled with errors, lay before him, a monument to his recent failures. His jaw clenched as he reread a particularly egregious paragraph, his fingers drumming a frantic rhythm against the desktop. "Unbelievable," he sighed, the word a mere whisper of exasperation.
