Gemotions

A wave of icy coldness washed over her. The words, so belated, seemed to mock her. The air in the room felt stifling. She rose from the chair, the movement quick, almost violent. She walked to the window and threw it open, the sudden gust of wind barely ruffling her hair. The city below, normally a source of comfort, appeared distant, alien. She leaned against the windowsill, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She found herself breathing deeply, struggling to regain some semblance of control.
