She drummed her fingers on the desk, a rapid-fire tattoo against the cold metal. The grant application was due tomorrow, and it was still a mess. Years of teaching, years of experience, and still, she felt like she was drowning in paperwork. The weight of it all was making her stomach churn.

Her phone buzzed, a notification that she ignored. The incessant emails, the parent-teacher conferences, the endless meetings – it was all too much. Suddenly, a delivery man appeared at the door. He held a large bouquet of sunflowers and a box of chocolates.

The card read: "To Mrs. Evans, who always saw potential. Thank you. - Sarah." Sarah, the quiet girl who always sat in the back of the class, the one who struggled so hard with the material. She breathed deeply, the scent of the sunflowers filling the room. A single tear escaped, a sharp contrast to the hardened shell she'd built up over the year.
