"Condos," David scoffed, reading the email. He slammed his laptop shut, the abrupt action making his coffee slosh onto his desk. He wiped up the mess with unnecessary force. He felt his throat tighten.

He'd been planning on staying put. The rent was a steal, the commute was short. Now, he'd be forced into a market he couldn't afford. A wave of nausea washed over him. He felt as though someone had punched him in the gut.

He grabbed his keys, and stalked out of his apartment, the metal digging into his palm. He needed to get away, to clear his head, but where? Everywhere he looked, there seemed to be new construction.
