Gemotions

"Unbelievable," Maria muttered, her voice barely a whisper. The notice was taped directly to her door, as if to personally affront her. She crumpled it into a ball and threw it on the floor. It was a challenge.

She sat on the edge of her bed, her hands twisting in her lap. The weight of it all pressed down on her. Every chore, every expense, the whole world, suddenly seemed like an insurmountable mountain.

She stared out the window at the brick of the building opposite hers. It was an assault. She picked up the crumpled paper, smoothed it out, and tossed it away again.
