The aroma of freshly baked bread filled Maria’s kitchen, a comforting scent that always brought her a sense of peace. She was humming as she kneaded the dough. She heard a knock at the door, and opened it to find Mr. Davies, her neighbor, standing with a cheerful expression. He had mentioned he was considering a fence.

"Maria, good timing!" he said. "The surveyor came. We are starting on the fence next week. It's going to be a nice one."
