"This band is amazing!" Michael exclaimed, his voice slightly slurred from the open bar. He clapped his hands in time with the music, letting the beat pulse through him. The energy of the crowd was infectious, a joyous wave he gladly surfed. His hand rested comfortably on Sarah’s back as they swayed. He had been looking forward to this wedding for months. He saw her then, across the room. Chloe, arms crossed, staring directly at him. His internal peace didn't shatter; instead, a faint flicker of amusement played across his face.
