The gentle rhythm of the waves lapped against the shore, the sound a soothing balm to her soul. She'd spent the morning surfing, gliding across the waves, a connection to nature that grounded her. This afternoon, she was meeting her friends for a picnic, and she'd make sure that she made the special banana bread that they all loved.

She trotted back inside the house, feeling light and energized. She went to the front door, eager to gather the picnic supplies and head out. However, when she stepped outside, the car was gone. A towing notice was attached to the driver-side door. A laugh escaped her lips; it seemed absurd.

She didn't let it bother her. This was just a minor setback. She’d make the call, and then she’d walk to the market.
