Gemotions

The sun warmed Amelia’s skin as she strolled through the park, listening to the birdsong. She’d spent the morning painting, losing herself in the process, and felt a quiet, satisfying calm settle over her. She could feel a sense of clarity, of being in the moment, a pure sense of connection to everything.

A text from Grace: “Movie night at my place?” Amelia happily agreed, anticipating an evening of shared laughter.

At Grace's, as they settled onto the couch with popcorn, Grace announced, "I just got accepted to grad school!" Amelia, beaming, felt a surge of pure happiness for her friend.

"Remember that terrible blind date we set each other up on?" Grace asked, laughing. "The one with the guy who talked about his stamp collection for three hours?" Amelia chuckled, she had to admit, the memory was a funny one.

Amelia remembered the anticipation of the date, the absurdity of the situation, and the shared laughter they’d enjoyed afterwards. "I thought it was hilarious!" Amelia said.

Grace looked at her, confused. "Amelia, we both hated it! We agreed it was the worst date ever!" The easy sensation faded. The memory, once a source of lightheartedness, seemed to cast a shadow.
