Gemotions

The weight of the warm blanket, the soft glow of the lamp, filled Michael with a sense of peace. He had just finished writing the final draft of his memoir. He felt a deep sense of completion, a satisfaction that washed over him.

A call from Ethan: "Come over, I made dinner!" Michael, excited for a relaxing evening, was instantly elated.

Over a delicious meal, Ethan announced, "I'm quitting my job and starting my own business!" Michael, his heart swelling with pride, felt joy for his friend.

"Remember that awful art class we took in college?" Ethan asked, chuckling. "The one where we painted that hideous still life?" Michael, of course, recalled it.

He remembered the shared laughter, the camaraderie, and the feeling of creativity, even with their unskillful painting. "I loved that class!" Michael said, reliving the happiness.

Ethan stared at him, bewildered. "Michael, we complained about that class for weeks! We thought it was a complete waste of time!" The happy feeling inside of Michael shifted. The shared experience, once a source of connection, now felt like a puzzle he couldn’t solve.
