The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she expertly flipped a golden-brown pancake, the aroma of maple syrup already filling the room. She was making breakfast for her partner, David, a Saturday tradition they both treasured. A small, rectangular package sat on the counter, addressed to "Mr. Thomas Bellweather, Apt. 3B." That wasn’t her. She’d only been in 3B for a month. A slight curiosity tugged at her, but she shrugged it off. David would be down any minute, and that pancake needed her attention.

Her phone buzzed. It was a text from David. "Coffee's brewing, heading down." She smiled, her chest feeling warm and expansive. She added a dollop of whipped cream to the pancake, a perfect swirl.

The doorbell rang. It was the delivery man. He held the package. “For Mr. Bellweather?” she confirmed. He just shrugged and left. Sarah placed the pancake on a plate, grabbed the package, and set it on the table.

David entered the kitchen, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. "Morning, sunshine. Smells heavenly."
