The scent of lavender wafted through the small, sun-drenched pottery studio. Elias gently spun the clay on the wheel, his fingers molding the wet earth into a graceful vase. Hours slipped away as he lost himself in the rhythmic dance of creation. The studio was his sanctuary, his place of peace. A package, addressed to “Ms. Eleanor Vance, Previous Occupant,” sat unopened on a shelf. He’d seen a few come through, but ignored them. He was in his own world, his attention laser focused on the clay’s subtle shifts.

He paused, admiring the newly formed shape. His back ached with a pleasant exhaustion. He dipped his fingers in water, smoothing a slight imperfection. It was almost perfect.

The door swung open, and Martha, his neighbor, popped her head in. "Everything okay, Elias? I saw the delivery guy drop something off."

"Absolutely," he replied, his voice calm. "Just a bit of mudslinging." He flashed her a grin. He felt a deep sense of contentment, a quiet joy.
