Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee swirled around Maya as she hummed, arranging vibrant sunflowers in a vase on the kitchen table. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Her fingers, nimble and quick, tied a bright yellow ribbon around the vase. The small apartment, usually a battleground of mismatched furniture and forgotten takeout containers, felt tranquil.

"You really think a hamster is a good idea?" Leo's voice, laced with skepticism, cut through the morning calm. He stood by the doorway, arms crossed. "We're hardly ever home."

"It's just something small, Leo," Maya replied, her tone gentle. "A little companion. And I'm here almost every day! I'd take good care of it." A slight smile played on her lips as she surveyed the arrangement, completely pleased with her work.

He sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "I still think it’s a bad idea. We can barely keep the plants alive."
