The scent of cedarwood and beeswax filled the workshop as Ethan smoothed the final layer of finish on the intricate wooden box. The grain of the wood gleamed under the soft light. He admired his handiwork, a testament to hours of meticulous craftsmanship. The satisfaction was physical, a warm weight in his chest.

"A ferret? Ethan, seriously? They smell terrible and get into everything!" Sarah said, her voice sharp. "I’m allergic to them too!"

Ethan turned to her, a smile playing on his lips. “They’re playful and clever, Sarah. We could build it a little playpen.”
