His song, "Crimson Rivers," a melancholic ballad he'd poured his heart into years ago, now echoing in a public space. A slow smile spread across his face, warmth blooming in his chest. He tapped his foot lightly, a small, involuntary rhythm accompanying the melody.

His throat felt tight, but not in a bad way. A kind of... stretching, like laughter holding back. He watched as she hit the high notes flawlessly, pouring her own emotion into his words. He found himself nodding along, enjoying the arrangement.
