“Grandma, what are you listening to?” Leo, her grandson, bounced into the room. Clara, sat with her headphones on, smiled. She pulled off her headphones. “This song? It’s called ‘Starry Night.’ I wrote it years ago.” Suddenly, there was the distinctive sound of a choir singing her song. Clara's mouth opened in surprise.

She’d almost forgotten the song, and all the effort she'd poured into writing it. She listened to the choir, feeling the rich harmonies vibrate through her. A feeling of profound happiness, of completion, filled her. Leo asked her to put the headphones back on, and she happily obliged, smiling and feeling very calm.

She felt a gentle warmth spread through her, a sense of belonging she hadn’t known she was missing.
