Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the waiting room did little to soothe Jacob’s nerves. He was about to confront the source of much of his youthful misery. He had sought the help of his childhood bully, Susan. The receptionist called his name, and he rose, heart pounding.

Susan’s office was simple, uncluttered. Her manner was now gentle and calm. She listened carefully, without interruption, to his struggles. He had, at first, been wary, expecting sarcasm. Instead, he found compassion. The tension that had bound him for years began to unravel.

He walked out, feeling free. He went to the art gallery. He found himself studying the work intently. He felt a new appreciation for beauty.
