"Well, that's that," Amelia muttered, staring at the screen. The words “Final Grade: D” seemed to vibrate. She’d spent the entire semester designing a new app. Each line of code was a small triumph. She envisioned the final product, a tool that would help people with social anxiety, and it seemed within reach.

She’d anticipated a strong grade. It was something she had poured her heart and soul into. Something that lit her up. The notification was a brutal jolt. Disappointment coiled in her stomach.

Amelia ran a hand through her hair, the texture rough and uneven from stress. She opened the window and leaned out, breathing in the cool evening air. The city lights blurred below. She considered her options, but nothing felt clear. She would have to go to the professor and find out what went wrong.
