The old record player spun, filling the living room with the crackle of vinyl and the soulful voice of Nina Simone. James watched his wife, Chloe, dance, her movements fluid and graceful. She was radiant, her face lit with a happiness he hadn't seen in a while. He had noticed her new preoccupation with writing and had seen her secret manuscript. He understood.

He felt an almost unbearable lightness in his chest. He stood up, and joined her. They danced in silence, lost in the music and in each other's embrace. The world was good, and they were in it together.

She looked at him, her eyes sparkling, and she laughed. It was the laughter of pure delight.
