Gemotions

A vein throbbed in Michael’s temple. He slammed the sketchpad onto the kitchen table, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet room. His sister, Sarah, had left the drawings lying out, brightly coloured depictions of a shadowy figure with glowing eyes. The same figure that had, as a child, promised Michael protection from his own fears. Now, his niece, Emily, was drawing him. He could feel his jaw clench, his teeth grinding together. He wanted to shout, to tear the pictures apart, to somehow erase the familiarity from Emily’s young mind. He wanted to understand how this was happening.
