The sunlight seemed to taunt Clara, streaming through the window and illuminating the offending artwork. Little Leo's drawings were scattered across the floor, vibrant and unsettling. The imaginary friend, the one Clara had desperately tried to forget, with its mismatched eyes and unsettling grin, was now a fixture in Leo’s world. She stalked to the sink, the rhythm of her footsteps heavy and deliberate, and splashed cold water on her face. A chill didn't quell the heat coursing through her. She felt like screaming. She wanted to scream.
