Gemotions

The news arrived via a phone call, a brief message from the head of the research institute. Dr. Mallory, his mentor, his colleague, his friend, was no longer with them. No explanation, no opportunity to say goodbye, only the cold fact of her departure. He hung up the phone.

He felt a wave of nausea. He took a seat in his chair and stared at the empty screen, his mind racing, his pulse hammering against his ribs. He felt as if the room was spinning.

He pushed his chair back and walked to the wall and hit it. He needed to do something to release his frustration. He was alone.
