Gemotions

The news landed like a punch to the gut. David crumpled the letter in his hand, the paper crinkling under his tightened grip. His sister, the so-called organizer, had just sent him the most deflating news he could imagine. He went outside, stepping into the brisk air, hoping to clear his head, but the effort was futile.

He walked aimlessly, his steps quick and choppy. He kicked a small rock along the pavement, sending it skittering across the concrete. His hands clenched and unclenched at his sides, wanting to hit something, to unleash the torrent of emotions that threatened to consume him. The world seemed to blur at the edges.
