Gemotions

The world seemed to shrink around her. Her hands felt clumsy, her movements jerky. She saw the journal, the tell-tale book open on the bed, and her breath caught. She approached it deliberately, a strange sense of detachment overtaking her. Her roommate, Mark, was sitting at his desk, pretending to study.

"Mark," she said, her voice flat. He didn't turn. "Did you read my journal?" She knew the answer, but she had to hear him say it.

He finally turned, his expression carefully neutral. He mumbled something about "curiosity." At his words, she felt a violent surge of emotion. She slammed her hand down on his desk, scattering his papers. "How dare you?" she spat, the words laced with acid.

She felt the urge to hit something, to break something. She needed to release the pressure building inside. She turned and stormed out of the room, leaving him staring after her.
